Winston, a black bear, was born at a breeding compound in Ohio, and was bred to be a pet. He was kept illegally, and later confiscated by officials. After confiscation, Winston, still a very young bear, was kept with other older, more aggressive wild bears and suffered a severe bite wound to his right hip. He was treated for the injury and eventually placed at our Galt, California, sanctuary in 1995, where he became companion and best friend to Boo Boo, another young bear living at our sanctuary at that time.

Today the two bears live at PAWS ARK 2000 sanctuary in San Andreas, CA. Their heavily-forested home in the Bob Barker Bear Habitat, was a gift from the Emmy Award-winning game show host. Thank you Bob Barker and your DJ&T Foundation for this wonderful gift.

For more information about Winston and Boo Boo, PAWS, our sanctuaries, the animals in our care and the work we do, visit our website at www.pawsweb.org. More videos of the bears and other animals are available to view on our YouTube channel, PAWSWEB.
