MaximsNewsNetwork: 22 June 2010 - UNAMA: Kabul, Afghanistan - The 15-member United Nations (UN) Security Council held a two-hour meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and senior members of the Government, at the Presidential Palace, exchanging views on the current situation in Afghanistan.
Also present at the meeting were Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs Zalmay Rassoul, National Security Advisor Rangin Dadfar Spanta, International Relations Advisor Taj Ayubi, Deputy National Security Advisor Shaida Mohammad Abdali and Chief of Staff Mohammad Umer Daudzai.
The 15-member Council, which arrived in Kabul last night, was also briefed by the head of UN Assistant Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan Staffan de Mistura, along with senior staff from UNAMA and UN agencies operating in Afghanistan on the work of the UN in the country.
