When we met up with the band, they didn't know that the shoot would be on the river and we didn't know their song would be about a river. Once we'd put two and two together, the discussion of whether songs beside rivers are cheesy was brief. Historically speaking, for whatever reason, songs about rivers tend to hold their own. But what if the river in those songs had a voice to accompany the bearded men who have fixated their art upon it? Soon enough, we hope, every spa and household water feature in North America will look and sound like this.

This version of the Wooden Sky (Toronto) includes singer, Gavin Gardiner and violinist, Edwin Huizinga who played three incredible Calgary sets around their second album, If I Don't Come Home, You'll Know I'm Gone while on tour with the Rural Alberta Advantage. For good measure (and good leisure) also peep their multi-part tour documentary from their Bedrooms and Backstreets tour on their myspace side panel.
