This model was met with a lot of hate, calling it 'cheap' and 'overpriced.' Most of those people aren't in the market for a new guitar and would say that about just anything. While it certainly is not an inexpensive guitar at $1399, it does have a few quirks to it that makes it a little bit better than a regular junior.

First, the finish seems really thick on these guitars. You could see that as a good or bad thing. The Cherry and Blue finish is unique for this line up of guitars whereas you can get other black jrs. The large pickguard is a thing of debate. I opted to switch mine for a regular styled Junior pickguard (simply because I was unable to get an original + because I wanted to demonstrate if it was possible.) The only 'bad' thing when doing that is there are 3 old drill holes left over. It gives the guitar that 'punk' look though so I didn't mind them. Gibson actually drills these for humbucker ring screws at the factory, so installing the pickup ring was simple.

Signature guitars have a certain aura to them... they make you play differently and feel like you have more power. If nothing else, they give you the want to play something that you might not always play. I've always enjoyed reviewing signature guitars of people I respect for that reason.

It features a single '57 Classic Gibson Humbucker, mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fretboard.

Overall, I enjoyed this guitar. Sure, $1399 can be stretched a long way on the used market, but if you're a big Green Day fan and new is the only way to go for you, this is the way to go.
