Taken September 1st 2012. My footage here was featured on ITV West Country News on 3rd September 2012. From http://www.sennen-cove.com: The Relief Tamar Class Lifeboat `Victor Freeman` and the station ILB `Spirit of the RLC` carried out an urgent launch at appx 1940 this evening to reports of an angler cut off by the tide on an offshore rock near Pendeen Lighthouse. Both Land`s End and Penzance Coastguard Cliff Teams were on scene.
The `Victor Freeman` arrived and stood off the rock where the angler was stuck; the tide had begun to ebb back and he was in no immediate danger although he had been covered in spray earlier with waves breaking over the rock. After a difficult passage in very strong tidal conditions, the ILB arrived ten minutes after the `Victor Freeman` and succeeded in recovering the angler from the rock and transferring him onto the ALB.
Both lifeboats returned to Sennen Cove, arriving at 2100. The angler was driven back to Pendeen to collect his car, non the worse for his ordeal.
Weather:- fine - southwesterly wind force 3 or 4 - difficult sea conditions in strong tidal overfalls especially between Pendeen Watch and the 3 Stone Oar.
ILB Crew:- Dan Shannon, Owen Matthews. ALB Crew:- Terry George, Richard Brown, Phil Shannon, Jason Woodward.
