Supplements and nutrition for athletes are very much a subjective topic for anyone to discuss. Certain proprietary ingredients that make one rider feel like Alexandor Vinokourov after a healthy portion of homologous blood transfusion and those same ingredients can make another rider want to pull over to the side of the road and unleash "unfriendly fire" into the gutter. We all have our favorites and I think it's worth everyone's time to give GU Energy Labs products a fair shot.

Thanks to their complex carb mix based on maltodextrin, fast-acting natural fructose and 20mg of caffeine per pack...GU Energy Gel's pack a serious punch and will bring you back from a bout with the bonk quicker than you can say "chamois cream." It also contains Vitamins C and E to help your muscles defend against recovery killing free radicals.

Now, if you're really training and you're in constant need of fuel to feed your famished muscles then you might want to try GU Energy Roctane Gels. Roctane differs from it's better-than-average little brother by it's inclusion of hisitidine, an essential amino acid that acts as a buffer to help slow down the build up of lactic acid in your muscles. It also contains increased citrate levels as well as branched chain and complex amino acids that have names I can't pronounce. Usually, if I can't pronounce it, that means it works. Like my headache medicine, which I need on a fairly regular basis thanks to my Jimmy Buffet-loving-neighbors.

If you're in the market for a new product to freshen up your training and race-day retention: give GU a try. Look out for their Mint Chocolate flavor, by far my all time favorite.
