This is the first time I have performed on a baroque violin. The experience was really great - I loved playing on gut strings, particularly the upper 2 strings. The feeling was a mellow one, and I loved the overall ring of the instrument. I also discovered that going outside of 1st position is often unnecessary. About playing with a baroque bow: the funny thing is, I played choking up on my standard bow for about a decade, and only recently started to try and get back towards the frog. And here I am, playing on a baroque bow... it was fun, and illuminating in many ways. Looking forward to trying my hand at this again sometime soon!

I'm very grateful to Jim Roe for asking me to do this, to Matt Veligdan and Geoff Countryman for shooting the video, and to everyone at Helicon for making it such a special and memorable experience. Thanks for watching!
