In Kesra, Tunisia, the ILO programme to support the development of underprivileged areas is stimulating local economic activity by addressing the people’s priorities. Thanks to the new irrigation and hydro agricultural works system introduced using the high labour-intensive (HIMO) approach, water resources are better managed, resulting in increased agricultural activity, notably the cultivation of figs, and creating jobs in the region.
