CLICK HERE AND READ: The California Air Resources Board votes on 12-16-2010. Timber protocols to be voted on currently encourage and subsizie clearcutting. Over a year ago environmentalists and consultants to the state all agreed that the clearcutting approval by Air Resources would have to stop. So STOP.

For questions regarding ARB's Cap-and-Trade Program, please contact: The Office of Climate Change at (916) 322-2037
Anyone calling would be asking them not to include clearcutting in the cap-and-trade forest protocol -- or not to reward clearcutting in the protocol-- or asking them to remove clearcutting from the protocol -- or whatever else they might want to say.

PLEASE read the following, then submit comments prior to December 16. The issue is complex, but exceedingly important. On December 16, the Air Resources Board may adopt regulations that will allow clear cutting as a means of obtaining carbon credits! This is complete madness. In addition, there are other provisions that are very bad. Read on, take action and forward this to your lists, your friends and anyone who cares about the future of our forests and the future of our planet. Please submit comments to the ARB asking them to protect the integrity of California's forests (the lungs and filters of our air and water), by: a) eliminating from the offset program clear cutting of our forests as a way of sequestering carbon; b) adding provisions to assure that forest projects do not result in the conversion of 'naturally managed' (uneven aged forests) into clearcut plantations (even aged forests).
