A fascinating discovery is unearthed at the Smith-McDowell House in Asheville. Nearly 100 years after it went missing, a small ring belonging to Frances McKee-O'Brien is found 78 inches underground on the property. McKee-O'Brien lived in the home from 1908 until 1913. Before she died in 2007, she wrote one of her earliest memories was dropping the ring out of the top floor window, seeing it bounce off the sunroof, then never seeing it again. Michael Post, who owns a metal detector business helped find the ring. The search took about two hours. The ring will soon be on display at the house for the public to see.Follow Karen Wynne on Twitter @KarenWynneWLOS
