On December 20, 2009, 100,000 or so people took to the streets of Taichung a day ahead of a visit by Chinese envoy Chen Yunlin. The people of Taiwan were protesting the Ma Ying-jeou government's unsupervised dealings with the Chinese Communist Party.

The video you see here shows marchers on the eastern route. Although you can't see the full width of the crowd, this shows the marchers from the very beginning to the very end (with red light times omitted).

Reuters' Ralph Jennings reported that there were only 10,000 people (the total of the two routes of the march):

Be sure to view all three parts and see if you believe that there are only ~5,000 people passing by in the 24 minutes or so of this three-part video.

The original audio has been removed, since what was mostly audible was kids playing and me conversing with the people around me.

Acompanying music is via Apple's iMovie library.
