*About the Real Life People*

Utuma Belfrey:
Utuma Belfrey, a union electrician worked for GRID Alternatives, a California nonprofit, installing photovoltaic solar panels for low income home owners. She founded Sustainable Futures LLC, with the goal of creating sustainable communities -- environmentally, economically and based on social equity -- through education, facilitation and consultation on new and retrofitted construction projects. Her eldest son Demarea is currently taking solar installations courses at City College and will be graduating and looking for work in November 2010. Utuma has raised three asthmatic children in one of the most environmental toxic communities in San Francisco -- Bay View Hunters Point. She attributes her environmental awareness and son's education to California's clean energy policy AB 32, and her desire as a mother, member of an at-risk community and citizen of this planet to do her part to ensure a clean, safe and habitable planet for all people.

Alexander Lopez:
Alex grew up in the shadows of the Chevron Richmond Refinery, in West Contra Costa County. Alexander's mother and brother both have asthma which they believe is related to the overburden of pollution in their community.

Children living in Contra Costa County are more likely to be hospitalized for asthma than children living in any other part of California.

Benjamin Bratt
Benjamin is an activist and performer. You've seem him a lot. Do an instant Google search for Benjamin, and he comes up third, right after Benjamin Franklin. That's good company.

*Real Life Crab"
Dungeness Crab
Our crab is proud of its recent accolades by Seafood Watch, receiving their sustainable seafood rating of 'Best Choice'. However, domestic, industrial, and agricultural waste all pose potential threats to Dungeness crabs, especially to young crabs who spend their entire juvenile existence close to shore or in bays while the remainder of their life cycle is oceanic.
