We are all unicellular organisms at the moment of conception. During our development many cells need to selfassemble into organs and tissues. It is an elaborate dance brilliantly choreographed. How this happens is a mystery. The Bao lab Sloan Kettering Cancer Center the Shroff lab National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and the ColónRamos lab Yale University have established a multidisciplinary collaboration to create and disseminate new technologies that allow us to image and track the decision of single cells as they selfassemble into multicellular organisms.
