Thirteenth video in Song a Day Project. This song is much much better with a piano, but it was fun figuring out the chords on guitar. This is one of those rare songs of mine that features a bridge . . . or at least something like it.

The girl in the silver silk shimmering dress
With the razor-sharp tongue that I loved the best
Pulled me into the stairwell, and I must confess
Despite my distractions I didn't protest

Then off with the lights like any night like that or like this
And wasn't it weird how very near we were to bliss?

Well all wonderful things have their hang ups and come downs
And that includes the girl I adored
Well isn't life great, on the interstate
Praying like hell she hadn't locked the door

Then off with the lights like any night like that or like this
And wasn't it weird how very near we were to bliss?

You can't tell me you wouldn't fall for her if you heard her say
All the words that were all you could want from her, "we don't have to wait"

Well presently I've grown tired of past tense used
When I refer to that girl
And I'll scour every inch of this whole damn world
Till I find her and remind her how we used to twirl

Then off with the lights like any night like that or like this
And wasn't it weird how very near we came to bliss?

You can't tell me you wouldn't fall for her if you heard her say
All the words that were all you could want from her, "we don't have to wait"
