Despite being the second most important insect model system, imaging of the beetle Tribolium castaneum has so far been limited. In their new paper in Development, Strobl and Stelzer combine light-sheet fluorescence microscopy with a new mounting method to achieve non-invasive, long-term imaging of Tribolium embryogenesis, which you can see from several angles in this movie.
