This is the second Living Room Lesson, Part 2 in fact, of the Piedmont style of guitar playing, or thumb style, or Travis picking guitar basics, in which I cover some prerequisite melodic exercises. While Mississippi John Hurt's tune, "Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me" is the vehicle, it will hopefully serve as a broader foundation for learning to play in this style.
