Currywurst is a very popular street food in Berlin and most other German cities. But defining exactly what currywurst is is fairly tricky - there are many many variations on the kind of sausage used and the exact ingredients of the sauce. It seems that the sausage used in currywurst is Bratwurst, but Bockwurst is used in some regions. The currywurst sauce is always tomato-based - sometimes just ketchup, frequently with a richer tomato sauce. And the key flavouring in currywurst is mild curry powder, but frequently with other spices added. Currywurst is served whole or sliced, with lots of currywurst sauce slathered over it and generally a side of french fries. Currywurst is drunk food - the kind of thing you enjoy most after a solid night of drinking.
