St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation celebrates its 180th Anniversary and St. Marks’ Hospital Foundation its 20th Anniversary by launching the new exciting St. Mark’s Institute for Bowel Disease. St. Mark’s Institute will develop the expertise of St. Mark’s Hospital to produce a world centre of excellence, dedicated to creating a future free from the fear of bowel disease.
The Institute will consist of six centres, which are: The Centre for the Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Bowel Regeneration and Rehabilitation. The Centre for Anorectal Research. The Centre for Early Diagnosis of Colorectal Disease. The Centre for the Development of Minimally Invasive Surgery. The Centre for the Treatment of Advanced Cancer. The Centre for Patient Safety and Quality in Healthcare.
The Centres will be headed respectively by; Dr Ailsa Hart and Dr Simon Gabe; Professor Robin Philips and Miss Carolynne Vaizey; Professor Brian Saunders and Dr Michele Marshall; Professor Robin Kennedy; Mr Ian Jenkins and Mr Janindra Warusavitarne; Mr Omar Faiz.
St. Mark’s Institute works towards one day finding a cure for Crohns disease , Ulcerative Colitis and Bowel Cancer.
