Successfully Marketing On Reddit

Marketing on Reddit can be a bit of a challenge, unless you use the Commission Gorilla software. Calling itself the “front page of the Internet”, Reddit is an eclectic mix of cool links, interesting news, computer nerdiness, and social commentary. While this might sound like the perfect place to promote a website or product, it can be just the opposite if not done correctly.

Reddit consists of a variety of sub-reddits, where people comment, upload, and explore topics on just about anything you can imagine such as Commission Gorilla review. To search for a specific topic, you search for the topic on Reddit. It is important to post to the correct topic since Reddit users can downvote a submission and it will get tossed into oblivion.

To begin, register an account with Reddit and lookup a nice Commission Gorilla bonus. While it is not mandatory to verify an email, it is a good idea since this is how you will be posting and commenting. The more relevant posts and comments you make, the more karma you build. In Reddit, karma is a reflection of how you stand among the Reddit community. It is based on links you have posted or comments you have made. While karma may not make your posts ran any faster, it does indicate how your fellow Redditors view you and it is something people look at.

Also, when you join Reddit, be sure and pick your user name wisely. It cannot be changed once it is registered and every time you post, comment, or submit a link, that action is attached to your username.

As you consider what to market, keep in mind that Redditors love the interesting, unique, humorous, courageous, and cute. Reddit is an open sharing site. There is no charge to join and just about anything goes. Consider your target market and know that the average Reddit user is male, ages 35 – 44. They earn between $25K and $50K annually and have some type of college education, most often at least a bachelor’s degree. The vast majority of Reddit users are from the United States, with Toronto being close behind.

Redditors may easily spend hours surfing the site and they are continually looking for something interesting to click on. One thing that does not work well with Reddit users are shortlinks. They tend to shy away from anything that could have a potential for malware or any other type of junk. If you plan to post a link, post the entire URL. There is limit on the number of characters, so you might as well make it complete.

Reddit tends to be good for bloggers and others interested in sharing good content and information. The average marketer may not get too much out of Reddit because Redditors tend to catch on quickly if someone is posting articles just to sell something and they will react with searing comments and by flagging the posts as spam. If a post or link is submitted by a Reddit user as abuse, the poster will most likely never be heard from again – at least on Reddit.
