The Peugeot 208 GTI has been revealed, but we've a while to wait before we can make a judgement on just how good it is. We just couldn't resist revisiting the delights of the heroic Peugeot 205 GTI in the lead up to the launch of the new sporting 208.

Its interesting how cars can become iconic with the passage of time. In its day motoring journalists usually thought there were better rival cars than the 205 GTi. (Yes, I'm old enough to remember). Let a few decades pass and then we are told it was the benchmark. Very odd.

Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 &1.9, Car of the decade. It deserves the title. They don't make any better car since then, So SAD !!!! Wake up French !!!!!
I'm lucky enough to have a 1992 205 1.1 Style as my first car. Love it.

Ive owned 3 gtis and put mi16-engines in all three. IF Peugeot had put the mi16 engine in The 205 gti from the start noone could ever dispute wich hatch was the best of all time.

If you got the chance of driving one of this car, it feels great. For me its like driving a GoKart. You can feel on every turn that you made. I own 2 Gti 1.9 of this bad boy... Awesome car to have & 2nd to 911 porsche.
