Western Europe's tallest building, The Shard, was formally inaugurated in London on 5 July 2012 and is now one of London's icons along with Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Nelson's Column and Buckingham Palace.
The Shard is 310m (1,016 ft) high and towers above London from the South Bank of the River Thames near London Bridge.
From the Shard's 95 stories visitors, residents and business people will be able to enjoy 360 degree views up to 40 miles distant.
(Note: This video is an edit of my original Shard footage which makes use of time lapse photography and music added in post production to enhance the experience of the light show on the evening of the Shard's inauguration. )
