The road to fame for Joe Pug has had more twists and turns than a theme park ride, but it's very apparent he's never been lost. His heart was the primary road map for his journey and it just proves that doing so will only lead you to success. After dropping out of college his senior year, Joe felt Chicago calling his name and it's there he found the inspiration to grow some of the most critically acclaimed lyrics of his generation. Pug takes his cues from some of America's most noted novelists, poets and musicians, with Walt Whitman topping his list for his first EP, "Nation of Heat". His music has been compared to that of musical greats, John Prine, Josh Ritter and Richard Buckner. Eventually leaving Chicago for the creative mecca of Austin, Texas, he continued honing his writing and performing chops while touring with the likes of Steve Earle and credits Steve for teaching him, "everything". Joe chats with Eldon about his time in Chicago, the art of storytelling, and where you can get a pitcher of Long Island Ice Tea for five dollars.
