This presentation addresses the complex physiology of osteoporosis that results from prolonged lack of adequate intake of calcium and/or vitamin D that leads to muscle weakness and reduced physical activity, and the important roles for adequate dietary calcium and optimal serum vitamin D levels as well as optimal weight bearing physical activity in correcting this problem.
