UCLA, Excel Medical tackle big data in efforts to uncover preventative treatments for patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI's). Knowing in advance that brain pressure could potentially rise in TBI patients gives doctors more time to prevent further brain damage or death. The Centers for Disease Control estimates 1.7 million people in the United States sustain TBIs every year.
