Here's what the last 5 minutes of Phoenix's set at ROO2010 looked and sounded like, onstage...you gotta love the fans high-fiving each other after it was all over. Last year, when I found a guitar pick in the pit, I gave it to a fan (see the second video, below) — and perhaps by way of karmic payback, this year a drumstick — which was in the air for like three full seconds — landed at my feet...I'm keeping this one. I'm working backwards in time and starting with the last show I filmed, because I still wish I was there...so when I'm done posting this year's shows (and there's way more Phoenix, et. al., en route) I'll sorta re-capture that feeling one gets, just before their favorite festival begins. And considering that we arrived in monsoon-type rain which surrounded our tent with literally a foot of water, forcing us to sleep in the car, only to awake to five days of 100-degree sun and a bone-dry tent, I'd say the festival gods shone an extra bright smile on we who gather fearlessly. Herewith, an onstage view of Phoenix at ROO2010, plus some of their show from ROO2009. You gotta love Sundays at Bonnaroo, and I pity any folks who couldn't stay long. Last year, The Mars Volta destroyed this stage — I mean Which Stage — and this year, Phoenix kept the Sunday tradition alive. As always, this is for those who couldn't be there. 'See you in 2011...
