In this video, metal toxicology expert Dr. Michael McCabe explains why the DePuy ASR hip device was recalled in August 2010. High failure rates from the device have been found to be caused in large part by metal wear debris released as the metal parts grind against one another. Metal wear debris causes soft tissue damage, tissue necrosis, pseudo-tumors, cobaltism, metallosis, and other potential long term health problems. This is part 2 in our 12-part series.
