The Winnipeg Goldeyes took it on the chin in a big, big way Saturday night.

The Fish surrendered seven runs in the first inning and lost 15-4 to the Wichita Wingnuts before 6,438 spectators at Shaw Park.

Goldeyes starter Chris Salamida lasted just a third of an inning and was on the hook for all of Wichita's seven runs in the opening frame. He was relieved by Mike Williams, who then gave up six runs, five of which were earned, over four and two-thirds innings.

Winnipeg scored once in the second, twice in the third and once in the fourth, but still found themselves trailing 10-4 at that point. Wichita added three more runs in the fifth inning and their final two in the seventh.

At the bottom of the Goldeyes order, Luis Alen went three-for-four with an RBI, while Ridge Carpenter was two-for-three.

Carlos Rivera hit two home runs for Wichita and, along with Jorge Delgado, had five hits in the game, which is one shy of the American Association's record for hits in a game.

Derek Blacksher pitched five innings in the win for the Wingnuts, while Salamida took his fourth loss of the season.

The Goldeyes and Wingnuts conclude this weekend series Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. All the action can be heard live on Sports Radio 1290, beginning with 55 with Forney at 12 p.m.
