This is Pickles' aviary which overlooks the pond. In this video you'll see the front portion of our yard, i didn't film the 2 sides or the back. It's June 5th and we are high altitide so the leaves just started to come out a couple of days ago so the yard looks very sparse for foliage. Once it fills in, we can barely see outside the yard. The pond contains Rainbow Trout and we keep it as natural as possible, even allowing algae to grow. The cattails and reeds just started growing and will get a few feet high. The thyme, yarrow, creeping vines and other plants and flowers will fill in around the outside of the pond. Neil is in the background where you can just see the start of the garden area - 2 raised gardens, potato patch, strawberry patch, cold frame and we'll be putting some corn in the ground soon. The aviary has about 7 boings & swings, some hanging toys, a flat-footing ledge and feeding station. The ground is grass and there are beans & peas just planted that will grow up the back wall of the aviary. There's a couple of trees but one tree & one shrub died over winter. There's the birdbath with water pumped in from a bucket and streaming slowly out of a bamboo reed. The top right hand corner was painted today with white plastic paint to give Pickles shade as the sun shines into it until about 2:00 in the afternoon.
