--- A Golden Affirmation ---
I create my own opportunities and my own success with the right attitude, creativity, and a consistent effort
I believe that small businesses are the backbone of America. And, no matter what the news media is telling us about the state of the economy, there are many small businesses that are thriving.

I recently met the CEO of a very successful Orange County, California, Internet Marketing Company (link: http://wwww.goldencomm.com). His name is Jason Lavin (Link: http://www.goldencomm.com/company/def...) and his company is Golden Communications (link: http://www.goldencomm.com ).
At Golden they build web sites, do Internet marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, a lot of social networking, e-commerce, and web site programming.

As Jason told me, Golden does anything that helps their clients to leverage the Internet, leverage technology, and leverage social networking. Companies hire Golden Communications to get them on the right track with those tools.

I asked Jason why his company has become so successful in a business that could be very complex for many people. He related that he has worked very hard to hire a lot of the right people that understand the technology.

Golden has 30 employees and about half of them are in their 20's. "That really helps," says Jason, "because they really have their finger on the pulse of the technology. The other half, who are a little older, have a good understanding of the business thrust behind how people should be leveraging these tools."

Jason related that one of the reasons why Golden has been so successful is that they have the ability to talk to business owners and they can teach them what other companies are doing to leverage the tools of the Internet. They show them examples of things they should be doing and then they help them implement.

Jason told me that Golden has 24-hour cadence, which means they have 20 employees in their Costa Mesa headquarters, two people on the East Coast, and half a dozen employees overseas.

"In my business," Jason related, "people want immediate assistance. So our employees around the world are available on a 24-hour basis." It is that kind of dedication and responsiveness that has drawn over 400 clients to Golden Communications in the past 14 years.

In my observations of Jason and his upbeat, creative staff, I noticed that he creates a very positive and encouraging atmosphere at his company.

With the right attitude, and hard work, Jason has created his own golden opportunity at Golden Communications.
