Stacey Sher talks about using your network and crowdfunding during her session "The State of Producing - Finding Funding, Tying Up Talent & Securing Screens" from Produced By Conference 2013.
"Producing" doesn't stand still. The demands of the profession are persistent, and yet constantly changing. And it's that constant need, for new stories, new information, and new business models, that makes the job the most difficult and exhilarating one in show business. In this extraordinary panel, a handful of the most accomplished producers working today sit down for a high-level collective inventory on the profession. Where do producers look for financial backing? What strategies do they take in approaching major stars and directors with projects? What new options and models for distribution have been made available via emerging technologies and the global marketplace? What are the implications of the Producers Guild's new Producers Mark certification? Perhaps above all, how does a producer work to finally turn a "no" -- or a series of them -- into a "yes"?
