"La Borinqueña" - The Puerto Rican National Anthem ★★★★☆
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This national anthem is actually more like how a national anthem should be. Ok, we've got, firstly, the lyrics. The lyrics are beautiful. They are really showing off Puerto Rico. They describe the country as a 'flowery garden of magical beauty'. The anthem is actually about the nation and not about death, war, etc. It really is wonderful. Secondly, we have the music. The music sounds like it is from Latin America, and Puerto Rico is in Latin America so I think this version I have here is very appropriate. Overall I rate the anthem 4/5, the highest I've given so far. The reason it lost a star was because I think the song should stand out more in front of all the other Puerto Rico songs and make this song different to the others (but still keeping the traditional style) because I think this song deserves recognition as it is beautiful!

La tierra de Borinquen
donde he nacido yo

IN ENGLISH:
The land of Borinquen
where I have been born
is a flowery garden
of magical beauty.

onstantly clear sky
serves as its canopy
and placid lullabies are sung
by the waves at its feet.

When at her beaches Columbus arrived
ful of awe he exclaimed,
"Oh!, oh!, oh!, this is the lovely land
that I seek"

Borinquen is the daughter,
the daughter of the sea and the sun.
Of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun,
of the sea and the sun.
