Afghan President Hamid Karzai says he's ready to let the United States continue to have nine bases in the country after its combat troops pull out in 2014. But, he says, Washington must make certain security and economic guarantees in exchange. Karzai's comments came while speaking at a ceremony at Kabul University.
"The US wants nine military bases all over Afghanistan and we agreed to give them the bases," Karzai said.
"Our conditions are that the US should guarantee to bring security to our country and support Afghanistan's forces as well as build our economic infrastructure."
