On Sunday, February 24, 1980, the United States men's Olympic ice hockey team defeated Finland by a score of 4-2. The win gave the US the gold medal for the tournament, but not before the team defeated the Soviet Union 4-3 just two days earlier.
Clearly, this was not recorded in 1980. I was not even alive then. ESPN replayed several US games from these Olympics back in 2005 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the events. I took the opportunity to record some of those games, fearing they wouldn't be rebroadcast any time soon.
