INTERVIEWER: You're about to listen to me interviewing Adam Page the director of Adshutters, a Sydney based roller shutter company. In this initial interview, Adam shares key factors and advice to consumers who are looking for roller shutters.

INTERVIEWER: Hi Adam. To start off, anyone looking for roller shutters will notice companies offering huge discounts. I know that there are some companies aggressively slashing their prices some of them up to 50%. Why is it that other companies can offer such incredible discounts and others can't?

ADAM: Well in our experience some companies have artificially inflated their prices for the purpose of marketing big discounts. The truth is they have the intention to sell it for the original price. They just inflate the price first so they can give the discount back. I'd give you an example, if I wanted to sell shutters for $2000 I could inflate the price to $4000 and offer a 50% discount and I could use that on my website to get people to call.

INTERVIEWER: For someone who's looking for shutters they might not know the real differences from one to another, is price the most important factor when buying roller shutters?

ADAM: I think we all know the best Quality product is rarely ever sold at the lowest price. With roller shutters it's no different, you get what you pay for. But that's not to say you can't get low price shutters. For example we have a budget roller shutter product for customers who need the work within a specific budget. That being said, be wary of the lowest priced companies. Some companies are offering lowest price shutters and they're not suitable for anyone because they're known to fall apart. Some companies will import parts and actually complete shutters from China and then use subcontractors to install the shutters.

INTERVIEWER: Ok so although the product they're buying is a lot cheaper, its a much poorer quality product as well?

ADAM: Yes, that is correct.

INTERVIEWER: Well this is really a great information. Every shutter company claims security as a key benefit. What is the main difference you see?

ADAM: Security is an important factor for our customers because burglary is on the rise. On average one in every twenty five homes are burgled each year. Standard shutters are a deterrent, but if you examine most standard shutters, you'll see that if someone really wanted to get in, they could. That is why we have the Adsafe shutters which is three times thicker than your standard shutter with what we call a 'wing clip' to reinforce our shutter inside the track so if anyone tries to force the shutter out of the track, the wing clip is held in place with aluminium pop rivet. Where as your standard shutters uses staple.

This one feature makes them the most robust shutters on the market and because these shutters have never been breached they are 100% secure. We back them with a 5-year money back guarantee so for a home is breached through the shutters at the point of entry we refund 100% cost of the shutters.

INTERVIEWER: Okay last question for you. What advice can you give to consumers looking to buy roller shutters?

ADAM: First you've got to understand why you want the shutters in the first place, whether its for heat, noise, light, bushfire protection, security, and get three quotes. You need to speak to a couple of companies to understand what they've got on offer. Then get them to put that in their written quote. Also find out where they manufacture their shutters and ask whether their installers are employees or contractors, because you want to make sure you they have some accountability over the quality of the installation.

INTERVIEWER: OK thanks Adam for coming and answering these questions for us. Just quickly before you go, for anyone who's interested and would like to get in touch with you for a free measure and quote, how can they get hold of you? where did they find you? first of all and what's the best number they can reach you on?

ADAM: You can reach us Sydney (02) 9544 0814, or you can go on our website adshutters.com.au, and fill out the web form on there.

INTERVIEWER: Okay, that's great. Adam Thanks a lot for your time and we'll speak again sometime in the future.
