New Mexico has a very diverse yet powerful history. From the first inhabitants to the Peublo Revolt, from the Mexican American War to becoming a United State, there is a sense of passion, hope and power of what New Mexico wanted to become. This work takes us through a musical journey of the history of this wonderful state. The work opens with the first inhabitants who lived on the land, which leads to the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 to the conquest of peace from 1692-1696. Albuquerque is discovered in 1706 with bright Mexican type dances but takes on a different feel altogether with the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. From the end of the war there is a renewed feeling of hope with New Mexico becoming a state in 1912, discovering oil in 1928 and then clarifying the overall hope and beauty with the glorious state song (O Fair New Mexico) which rises to a powerful climax and ends in a wild Spanish type flourish.
