During installation work in the Main Endeavour Hydrothermal Vent Fields (depth: 2190m) our newly deployed HD video camera recorded the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) ROPOS at work.
This video shows the action from the viewpoint of both ROPOS and the seafloor video camera. At this time, we were extending a connecting hose from the instrument platform to the back side of Grotto Hydrothermal Vent edifice, where we deployed COVIS, a high-resolution sonar system.
In addition to the camera and sonar, we installed a short-period seismometer, a benthic and resistivity sensor suite, and a remote-controlled water sampler at this location.
