Plastic reconstruction of the external ear canal.

This is usually performed on people suffering from "surfer' ear" (ie. bone growth in the ear canal after long exposure to cold water).

In that case, the surgery was performed to stop recurrent otitis and improve hearing. The blood may look impressive but only a small amount of liquid is involved. After milling some cartilage and bone, the canal is much wider. The surgeon uses a small cauterization probe to stop hemorrhages on vessels.
