This is a view of the Mendenhall Glacier from the Visitor's Center. This is the end of a 12 mile long glacier, one of the 38 that flow from the massive Juneau Icefield. The visible edge of the glacier is about half a mile across. The ice reflects back only the blue color from the sunlight which is why you see some blue patches in the icy front.
