Rhode Island singer/songwriter and long time friend of Tuli's wrote and recorded this unique name song for him several years back in the '90s which I first heard on Bob Fass' Radio Unnameable. Tim spoke at Tuli's memorial at St. Marks Church , July 17, 2010, and strummed a few of Tuli's songs. Thanks to photojournalist Clayton Patterson for the use of the fourth photo in the montage.
Lyrics: Tuli Kupferberg Put me up when I'm in New Yorik Key member of my favorite band The Fugs Olson, Blake and gritty Tuli Kupferberg Morning Morning,Nothing Supergirl
Richie Havens covered Morning, Morning, Lots of beat writers covered his style. Truly non-conformist Not a loyal plastic robot in a world that doesn't care. Tuli Kupferberg
His grandma told him when he was quite young Jewish boys don't whistle or chew gum His father told him clothespins are obscene Such repression and oppression helped Shape the beatnik scene
Goddam beatnik, get the hell out of my way Neat trick, Sputnik, feet stink, beatnik What kind of a commie name is that?
