Loop City is a collaboration between Melbourne poets Amanda Anastasi and Steve Smart, MSO violinist Sarah Curro and Auckland based composer Yvette Audain. A year in the making, this show marks the first collaboration between the four artists. Certainly not the last...

The poems in Loop City are born of a desire to write a work about Melbourne that captures both the frustration and the joy that come of living here. At its best Melbourne can be full of gorgeous surprises, art and culture and beauty. On a bad day the city can be all too self-congratulatory and pretentious. 'We don't mean to toot our own horn... No wait actually we do.' Loop City is the balance between the two sides of the city. It's written with empathy, but it is certainly no tourist postcard.

Loop City has previously been performed twice in its entirety and now it comes to Federation Square's magnificent Edge amphitheatre. For the first time under the stars in such a large venue, Loop City will grow to fill the space -- under the watchful ear of soundman Simon Priestly.

The night will also serve as the launch of the Loop City CD and will feature a solo violin set by Sarah Curro, playing works by Aronowicz, MacInnes and Rogan.

The show contains infrequent coarse language.
