High focus on safety, quality and time delivery sends the 20 year old Draugen field into the future. On Saturday 5 October 2013, an additional living quarters (ALQ) module and lifeboat frame were successfully installed on the Draugen platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The new living quarter will increase the accommodation capacity by 60 percent.

As the very first installation in the Norwegian Sea and Shell's first operated field in Norway, Draugen has steadily been delivering crude oil since 1993. Draugen has delivered far more than what was originally expected, and is a top performer in Norway in getting the most out of a reservoir. A pride amongst Shell operations, Draugen was set out to live for 20 years, but its lifetime is heading for a significant extension, and the efforts to get even more oil out of Draugen will continue for many years to come. This requires a number of upgrade projects like more wells, upgrade of the equipment, refurbishment, and extra beds.
