Compression tests of a filled, un-opened pop can for material science and engineering class. Local buckling and crippling is shown. Maximum compression loads are 1440 lbs (6405 N) for the filled can and 200 lbs (890 N) for the empty can. Can wall thickness = 0.117 mm.
