On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, the WWAMI Medical Students attended a workshop to learn skills in Intra-Venous (IV) line insertion, intubation, and suturing. This workshop is offered every year to the first-year WWAMI Medical Students. The students learn important skills that they will use throughout their medical careers. Furthermore, this workshop will prepare them for the summer 4-week Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program.
Among the volunteer educators were Dr. Will Smith (former WWAMI student), Dr. Donald Swiatek (University of Wyoming Faculty), many people from the UW Family Medicine Residency in Cheyenne, Laramie Fire Department paramedics, Ivinson Hospital emergency nurses, and other Wyoming Physicians. Ivinson Memorial Hospital emergency and education departments also provided significant support.
