Why?
Because waxed thread reduced tangles, makes the thread more manageable to bind with and protects it from fraying. Of course, you don't have to wax your thread, it's up to your preference.

Do I have to use beeswax?
I've read some people finding success with candle wax, so that is another option.

Where can I find beeswax?
Some art stores carry it in small to big blocks, or you can find it in the jewelry making section. You can also find it for sale online.
