Here is some video footage from the second half of my run (from the North Rim back to the South Rim) with some awesome music from the wife.

This 45 mile trail run with 11,000+ feet of climbing has been on my trail running bucket list for some time and since we were so close to the Grand Canyon while vacationing at Lake Powell, I figured this would be my chance. I decided to start my run at night to help avoid the heat of the afternoon, but the heat was still stifling for this Seattle boy. I started at 10:30pm on the South Kaibab Trail on the South Rim. Past midnight at the bottom of the canyon it was still over 90 degree with no breeze. I had some stomach issues because of the heat and had to keep a slower pace at the bottom of the canyon, but as it cooled off the higher I climbed, things became easier. I reached the North Rim around 5:45 am just after sunrise, then turned around and headed back down into the canyon to get back to the South Rim before it got too hot. I was too late and got blasted with 100+ temps and no shade most of way out up the South Rim. Again, I had to slow my pace and just cool off anytime I saw water. I was hoping to finish in 12 - 14 hours, but with the heat it took me just over 15 hours. A Grand Aventure in a Grand Canyon. It really is a big place and needs to be experienced from inside the canyon not just from the Rim to fully take in its vastness & unique beauty.
