It's the late '60s in Singapore. The once thriving and busy village of Kampong Chempedak is now quiet because the younger families have moved to the new flats in housing estates. When the remaining residents are given notices of resettlement, there are mixed feelings of wanting to remain and wanting to leave for a new way of life.
This play is performed in English, Mandarin and various Chinese dialects by The Glowers Drama Group, Singapore's premier seniors community theatre group. Directed by Pat Toh and Catherine Sng, and written by Peggy Ferroa, this was a commissioned piece by the National Arts Council's Silver Arts Festival 2016. It ran from 23-24 Sept 2016 at the Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore.
