Before you comment, please read the FAQ/'Frequently Commented' section (below) and make sure annotations are turned on for this video for corrections to song names.
Q - You named that song wrong? (or set a different song to the name)
A- All song names are corrected with annotations.
Q - Dude, that record scratch is sooo annoying, why did you use it?
A - I didn't know it'd get so annoying when I first uploaded. I'm not willing to re-upload without scratches as this has gotten kinda popular.
Q - How has this video not been taken down for copyright?
A - There is no copyright breach for this video as there is only a 5 second clip of each song.
Q - You set the volume a bit high?!?!
A - Yeah, I set the Db kinda high so apologies. I now realise the songs get distorted when you do this so I don't amp the volume up any more for my videos.
Q - Most of these aren't even overused?!
A - I know a lot of these songs aren't necessarily 'overused'. It says at the start of the video 'most popularly used songs' but I figured the word 'overused' makes for a video people are more likely to click on. I'd say a good 60 of these are 'overused'. 100 was a bit of a stretch, and I really ask myself why some of these songs are in here. I think it's easy to think you've heard a song a lot when you havn't.
Q - What order are these in?
A - The list is not in ranking order but in alphabetical order (by artist/band names).
Q - Help me - What's the song called in this montage/video?
A - How to find songs you don't know from a YouTube video:
1. Type the lyrics from the song that you can hear into Google. Chances are it'll come up with a lyrics site telling you the song name.
2. Ask the uploader of the video, read the description of the video or check for someone in the comments who has previously asked for the song name.
3. Use http://www.shazam.com/. It's a service which will identify a song and tell you the title.
4. If all else fails ask me in the comments of this video.
Q - This [particular song] is soo overused, how did you forget it?
A - These are songs (in my opinion and some of them, arguably) that you most often here in the background of YouTube gaming montages. The list is obviously biased as a representation of YouTube gaming montages as a whole as it is from only one person's perspective of watching montages. It mainly reflects overused Call of Duty montage songs as these are the most popular gaming montages and I watch them most. It also represents some of the smaller communities such as Halo, Gears of War, and Runescape montages etc. So the list is also biased to what montages I watch. I watch montages daily but there's going to be montages that you've watched and I haven't and songs that you think are overused, and songs I've never heard used in a montage - it's just how it is.
Q - Are these songs copyrighted?!?!?!
A - The majority of these are copyrighted. Some of these, though, are overused for the fact that they are not copyrighted. If you are unsure if a song is copyrighted you can type the song into YouTube, click the song's video, and see if there is a copyright notice below the timeline (stating which song is in the video). If you're still not sure, drop me a comment below asking if a particular song is copyrighted/not and I'll be happy to respond. Mainstream bands will be copyrighted, lesser known, underground artists will not be.
Q - What's the actual video footage?
A - Thanks to Joe for the turntable footage: /watch?v=T14FDCD_RDI
Q - What does 'Soundtrack to Joehands0me's video' mean?
A - It means all of the songs contained in one of Joehands0me's edits. If you didn't know, he pretty much sparked off editing in the CoD community and has ever since brought popularity to the artists he's used in his videos, therefore they're now overused.
Why I made this video and for what intentions
This video came about as I always like watching montages, I love the mix of gaming, music and editing all in one. This list was made to help you with any songs that you hear a lot in montages and don't know/can't remember its name. I see people comment below saying they come to this list to choose a song for their upcoming montage, I'm not telling you not to use a song, by all means use it, just remember, originality is always appreciated! I made this video with quite a few mistakes and thought meh, won't get many views, so I would have made it more professionally and more polished if I knew it'd get big.
Hope that clears everything up! If there's still a question you've no answer to post in it in the comments.
