I recently bought a MS-50 so I organized a small MS family party. I'm not quite sure but they seemed to be very happy... Anyway, all sounds (incl. beat) are created by the 3 analog synthesizers (MS-50 + 2x MS-20) using the analog sequencer (SQ-10).
The MS-50 creates the beat using 2 separated circuits. The SQ-10 plays a 16 step loop (A+B) which is used by all synths for different purposes. Another 8 step loop (C) is creating the pitch changes on the MS-20 (below). The SQ-10 also generates 3 different triggers. The multiple trig out (each step) triggers the lower MS-20. One MS-50 circuit (EG1) is triggered each 1th and 5th step, the other MS-50 circuit (EG2) is triggered each 3th and 7th step. The Kaoss pad (KP3) only adds some delay to the upper MS-20.
