These videos were acquired at U.S.A. Gymnastics Junior Olympic (aka level 10) Nationals 2011, in Long Beach, California, from May 12-15. I don't have IDs for these athletes; if you would like to be identified, please let me know.

I am uploading these slow motion videos mainly for educational purposes, so people can study the performances in detail. Not everybody has gymnasts of such high caliber at their gym, and some of these tricks go by quite quickly even if you do. This project is still somewhat experimental.

Captured at 240 frames per second with a Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 (a consumer grade point and shoot, which costs $237).
Pros: The ZR100 takes slow motion video, and costs only $237! Compare with professional cameras like Phantom HD Gold (I wish) which is great but costs $50,000-$150,000 (or $3000/day to rent).
Cons: Struggles in low light; low resolution; unable to zoom while recording; variable aperture zoom lens, so if you are zoomed in at all, the low light performance is even poorer.

The flickering is not the camera's fault. The lights were actually flickering; too quickly to see with the unaided eye, but with slow motion, it becomes perceptible. Sorry for how dark some of the videos are; this is due to my use of zoom for some of the sequences (to try to make the most of the pixels).

Despite the fact that it is not at risk of unseating Phantom HD Gold, all in all, I am very happy I own one (perhaps someday I will get my hands on a pro-grade camera like the Phantom). I hope that you enjoy the videos!
