Christian shares his experience on how the news media are working to include solution journalism in their coverage of the news (problems AND solutions) to inform their audience but also restore hope and instil a desire to act. Christian explains how he and his team have managed to convince reluctant leading news media to include solutions-based journalism in their work. He also demonstrates how we all have an impact through the stories we read and share. Christian is the founder of Sparknews, a social business of 17 people dedicated to amplifying initiatives with a positive outcome on the world at large. The team works with news media, social entrepreneurs and the corporate world to impact on all levels of society. Sparknews spearheads solutions journalism programmes uniting news media from 50 countries (including the FT, The Hindu, El Pais, Asahi Shimbun or Folha de Sao Paolo) and reaching 120 million people. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
